If you are like most people, the only thing worse than creating a process is following the process you just created. You may be wondering:
What are business processes?
Why do they matter?
Do I really need them?
The answer to that last question is a resounding “YES.” Processes are the tracks you run on, and business processes are the tracks that your employees run on once you have scaled to a team larger than yourself.
Business processes enable you to execute your revenue-generating activities (RGAs) systematically and consistently, and thus create profits systematically and consistently. Process isn’t sounding so bad anymore, is it?

STEP 3 - Know Your Numbers: How many leads do I need to generate, to close enough sales, to ultimately produce my desired level of revenue?
Here’s the simple formula that I still employ to this day, to answer this question. This formula is not ideal for all entrepreneurs and businesses, but it is highly useful for many micro-business owners and sales professionals:
1 - Income Goal: Define your monthly revenue goal
E.g. $1,000 per month
2 - Income Per Sale: Calculate your average income generated per sale
E.g. $100 per sale
3 - Closing Percentage: Calculate what percentage of leads you close on
E.g. I successfully make a sale on 10% of the leads I generate
4 - Leads Per Month Needed: Calculate the number of leads you must generate per month to reach your Income Goal, by performing the following operations:
Divide: Income Goal divided by Income Per Sale = Number of Customers Needed
Divide: Number of Customers Needed divided by Closing Percentage = Leads Per Month Needed
5 - Leads Per Week Needed (Optional): If you’d like to set a goal for weekly leads you must generate to achieve your Income goal, perform the following calculation:
Divide: Leads Per Month Needed divided by 4.33 = Leads Per Week Needed
6 - Leads Per Work Day Needed (Optional): If you’d like to set a goal for the number of leads you must generate each work day to achieve your Income Goal, perform the following calculation:
Divide: Leads Per Week Needed divided by # of days you work per week = Leads Per Work Day Needed
Example:
Income Goal $1,000 / divided by,
Average Compensation $100 / divided by,
Closing Ration 10% / divided by
Weeks per month 4.33 / divided by
Chosen Number of Work Days: 5
= 4.6 presentations/leads daily
